One of my most memorable experiences as a language educator has been to lead a group of over 20 George Mason University students as they experienced living and studying in Ecuador. We stayed in the city of Cumbaya, in the outskirts of Quito, over the course of two weeks in January, 2013. The students attended the University of San Francisco, where they studied the Spanish language and the rich Ecuadorian culture. We all stayed with friendly local families, who went out of their way to enrich our experience. We also took fascinating trips over the two weekends we were there. To all of us, it was the experience of a life time!
